FINDING A BUSINESS MENTOR

“If you really want to learn, you will always find a teacher.”

You can drastically improve your chances of success in your home based business by finding a business mentor. Look for a person with proven success, more experience and connections than you in your chosen “niche”. They have been where you are going, business-wise, and can provide you with priceless information that will change your life.

Most highly successful people had a mentor for guidance. Finding a business mentor is an excellent way to stay afloat, grow your business and avoid unnecessary difficulties. Also, you can learn valuable lessons not only from their business experience, but also from their principles, personal qualities and way of life.

To find a mentor for your work at home business:

• Ask other business people in your community people if
they know someone very successful.
• Ask or join your local chamber of commerce.
• Join a local club or business organization.
• Go to business luncheons, seminars, talks and conferences
• Inc.com and Score.org have mentor (or counselor)
information and resources.

Before finding a mentor, you have to identify the areas where you need advice. After finding a mentor, tell them you admire what they have accomplished in their field. Then, ask if they would allow you to take them to lunch and ask them a few questions.

During the meeting, ask questions about their, success, the people they admire, and if they would be willing to offer you some advice for your work from home business. Be humble, flattering and remember that the more specific questions you make, the more valuable input you'll receive.

Mentors aren’t people interested in making money or boosting their egos. They are interested in helping people with a sincere desire to succeed. They could provide you with invaluable help, wisdom and motivation for your home based business. So get an edge over your competition by finding a business mentor.

“If we could sell our experiences for what they cost us, we'd all be millionaires.” - Abigail Van Buren
